Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding. SOURCE...Law enforcement reported. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Callicoon, Hancock, Peabrook, Stalker, Hankins, East Branch, Fishs Eddy, Equinunk, Harvard and Hortonville. Road washouts are being reported in the area. Heavy rainfall is expected to continue for at least the next hour.

It is important to know where you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or creeks.

A broad area of showers and thunderstorms continues to develop and move slowly over the area this afternoon. These showers and storms may contain locally heavy rainfall up to an inch in a short amount of time. This rapid accumulation of rain may cause minor flooding of poor drainage areas in the more urbanized and steep terrain locations. Most flooding should be mainly an inconvenience, but if several showers and storms pass through the same locations...flood problems could become worse.
