At 404 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Montrose, moving east at 15 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Locations impacted include... Montrose, Hallstead, New Milford, Great Bend, Brackney, South Montrose, Salt Springs State Park, Hickory Grove, Alford, and Wyoanna.

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Heavy rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

A broad area of showers and thunderstorms continues to develop and move slowly over the area this afternoon. These showers and storms may contain locally heavy rainfall up to an inch in a short amount of time. This rapid accumulation of rain may cause minor flooding of poor drainage areas in the more urbanized and steep terrain locations. Most flooding should be mainly an inconvenience, but if several showers and storms pass through the same locations...flood problems could become worse. Some of the storms could also produce small hail and brief gusty winds from strong downbursts. Pay close attention if driving through these heavier storm cells, or if you live near flood prone areas.
