At 1253 PM PDT, showers and thunderstorms are developing along the eastern Sierra and Sierra Front south of Highway 50. Thunderstorm coverage will expand northward through the afternoon. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and half inch hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Reno, Carson City, South Lake Tahoe, Fallon, Tahoe City, Graeagle, Kings Beach, Plumas Eureka State Park, Sonora Pass, Gardnerville, Virginia City, Boca Reservoir, Pyramid Lake, Lee Vining, Twin Lakes, Lahontan Reservoir, Incline Village, Blairsden, Doyle, and Alpine Meadows.

Recommended Action

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. If on or near a lake, be prepared to get out of the water and move indoors or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to 10 miles from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter now! Do not be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.
