* WHAT...Heat index values around 105 expected during the afternoon hours. * WHERE...Portions of northwest and west central Kansas and southwest Nebraska. * WHEN...From 1 PM CDT /noon MDT/ Saturday to 10 PM CDT /9 PM MDT/ Monday. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat events. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Temperatures may remain in the 70s overnight, limiting recovery from daytime heat.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening.
