...The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in Kansas... Slate Creek At Wellington affecting Cowley and Sumner Counties. * WHAT...Major flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast. This approaches the flood of record. * WHERE...Slate Creek at Wellington. * WHEN...Until early Sunday morning. * IMPACTS...At 23.5 feet, Expect extensive cropland and field flooding along the creek. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 9:00 PM CDT Friday the stage was 23.8 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage early tomorrow afternoon and continue falling to 4.8 feet Wednesday evening. - Flood stage is 19.0 feet.

Recommended Action

Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown. Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. Additional information is available at www.weather.gov. The next statement will be issued Saturday morning at 1000 AM CDT.
