...Forecast flooding changed from Moderate to Major severity and increased in duration for the following rivers in Kansas... Slate Creek At Wellington affecting Cowley and Sumner Counties. * WHAT...Moderate flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast. This approaches the flood of record. * WHERE...Slate Creek at Wellington. * WHEN...Until tomorrow evening. * IMPACTS...At 23.5 feet, Expect extensive cropland and field flooding along the creek. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 8:00 AM CDT Friday the stage was 23.3 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 24.5 feet this afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage tomorrow morning. - Flood stage is 19.0 feet.

Recommended Action

Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown. Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. Additional information is available at www.weather.gov. The next statement will be issued this evening at 900 PM CDT.
