* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of southeast Kansas, including the following county, Cherokee. * WHEN...Until 400 AM CDT Sunday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. It will take several hours for all the water from these storms to work through local drainage systems in urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 333 AM CDT, The Department of Transportation reported flooding from previous heavy rain in the warned area. Between 3 and 5 inches of rain have fallen. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Baxter Springs, Columbus, Galena, Cherokee, Weir, Scammon, West Mineral, Treece, Lowell, Roseland, Crestline, Neutral, Stippville, Skidmore, Riverton, Carona and Lawton. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Recommended Action

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Many flood deaths occur in vehicles. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
