* WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...A portion of central North Carolina, including the following county, Wake. * WHEN...Until 515 AM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. River or stream flows, including on the Swift Creek and Walnut Creek, are elevated. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 356 AM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicate heavy rain has fallen due to thunderstorms. While the storms have now dissipated, the heavy rain that did fall is still causing some urban and small stream flooding. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. - Flooding impacts will continue, but minimal additional rainfall is expected. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Raleigh, Cary, Garner, RDU International, Morrisville, Lake Wheeler, Lake Benson, William B Umstead State Park and Carpenter. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Recommended Action

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
