* WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of central North Carolina, including the following county, Wake. * WHEN...Until 1000 PM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 646 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Up to 1 inch of rain has fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Raleigh, Cary, Wake Forest, Garner, Zebulon, RDU International, Apex, Morrisville, Knightdale, Wendell, Rolesville, Falls Lake Boat Ramp, William B Umstead State Park, Lake Benson, Purnell, Lake Wheeler, Falls Lake State Rec Area, Falls Lake, Research Triangle and Carpenter.

Recommended Action

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
