* WHAT...Arroyo and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Northeastern Torrance County in central New Mexico... West Central Guadalupe County in east central New Mexico... * WHEN...Until 245 PM MDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1244 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms moving slowly south along Interstate 40, State Road 3, U.S. Highway 285, and U.S. Highway 60. This will cause arroyo and small stream flooding. Between 0.75 and 1.25 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Vaughn and Encino. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Recommended Action

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Remember, ditches are deadly. A gentle flow of water can become a raging torrent in a few minutes.
