* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of northeast Illinois, including the following counties, Cook and DuPage. * WHEN...Until 130 AM CDT. * IMPACTS...Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Underpasses may be flooded. Roads and streets may be flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1017 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Up to 1 inch of rain has fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2.5 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Chicago, Aurora, Naperville, Arlington Heights, Evanston, Schaumburg, Skokie, Des Plaines, Mount Prospect, Wheaton, Oak Park, Downers Grove, Glenview, Elmhurst, Lombard, Bartlett, Ohare Airport, Carol Stream, Hanover Park and Park Ridge. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Recommended Action

A Flood Advisory means minor flooding along waterways and other poor drainage areas is imminent or may already be occurring. Persons in the advisory area should use caution and avoid flood waters. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
