FFWSJT The National Weather Service in San Angelo has issued a * Flash Flood Warning for... Kimble County in west central Texas... Mason County in west central Texas... Eastern Sutton County in west central Texas... * Until 115 PM CDT. * At 1025 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Up to 4 inches of rain have fallen in some locations over the past several hours, with additional rainfall expected over the next few hours upstream of the Llano River near Junction. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Junction, Mason, Yates Crossing, London, Segovia, Long Mountain, South Llano River State Park, Streeter, Grit, Telegraph, Camp Air, Roosevelt, Hilda, Katemcy, Hedwigs Hill, Art, Loyal Valley, Fredonia, Pontotoc and Us-83 Near The Kimble-Menard County Line. This includes Interstate 10 between Mile Markers 424 and 477. This includes the following Low Water Crossings... US HWY 377 crossing South Llano River, Park Road 73 crossing South Llano River, RM 385 crossing Perdenales River, RM 385 crossing Falls Prong, US HWY 377 crossing 2 miles North of Telegraph, FM 2169 crossing Johnson Fork Creek, RM 2291 crossings along Bear Creek, CR 150 crossing South Llano River, FM 2169 crossing Johnson Fork Creek and FM 2169 crossing Johnson Fork Creek. The following roads are currently closed in Kimble County due to flooding: Highway 377 south of Junction, 1674, 2291, 2169, 385, and 479.

Recommended Action

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
