Eastern Garfield County in west central Colorado... * Until 930 PM MDT. * At 621 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 0.4 and 0.8 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 2 to 4 inches in 1 hour. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding. SOURCE...Radar. Recommended Action

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Interstate 70 east of Silt by the intersection of Peach Valley and Slaughter Gulch Road is prone to rockslides and mudslides in heavy rain. Stay alert for rocks and debris on roads, and avoid driving on flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
