* WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions for a third consecutive day, with afternoon and early evening heat index values reaching 105 to 115 degrees. * WHERE...Portions of north central Kansas and central, east central, and south central Nebraska. * WHEN...Until 10 PM CDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...This will be the final day of extreme heat, with more typical levels of summer heat returning Tuesday.

Recommended Action

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
