The National Weather Service in El Paso has issued a * Dust Advisory for... West central Hidalgo County in southwestern New Mexico... * Until 745 PM MDT. * At 540 PM MDT, decaying showers and thunderstorms from Arizona were pushing outflow winds across Lordsburg Playa. A few plumes of dust have been spotted on highway cameras. Conditions are likely to deteriorate over the next couple of hours, but expect a lot of variability in visibility. HAZARD...Less than one half mile visibility at times. SOURCE...Detected by National Weather Service meteorologists. IMPACT...Hazardous travel. Locations impacted include... Interstate 10 west of Lordsburg to the Arizona state line, Steins, and Road Forks.

Recommended Action

Blowing dust brings reduced visibility, leading to dangerous driving conditions. If driving, avoid blowing dust if possible. If caught in dense blowing dust, pull off the road, turn off your lights and keep your foot off the brake.
