* WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 116 expected. * WHERE...Portions of Big Bend and Panhandle Florida and south central and southwest Georgia. * WHEN...From 11 AM EDT /10 AM CDT/ this morning to 8 PM EDT /7 PM CDT/ this evening. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities.

Recommended Action

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sunshine, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. This is especially true during warm or hot weather when car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside.
